Meritorious Service Cross 2016

Paul received the Meritorious Service Cross from His Excellency, the Right Honourable David Johnston at a July 13, 2016 ceremony in Halifax. The Meritorious Service Decorations celebrate Canadians who have performed an exceptional deed or activity that brings honour to Canada. The decorations are separated into military and civil divisions, with two levels each: a cross and a medal.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal 2012

In November 2012 Paul Young received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. This was presented to Paul by Mark Eyking, M.P. at a ceremony in Sydney. In nominating Paul for the Medal, Laurie Larson, President of the Canadian Association for Community Living, wrote:

"It was my honour to nominate you for this prestigious award in recognition of the significant contributions you have made to improving the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families both throughout Canada and internationally. Your commitment to and belief in individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families, and the leadership you have shown, has made a profound difference to so many. On behalf of the Board of CACL I would like to express our sincere thanks for all that you have done and that you continue to do and we congratulate you on this award."

Disability Advocate of the Year 2002

Presented by the Persons With Disabilities Partnership Association in June 2002 Awarded in recognition of Paul's direct involvement and tireless efforts towards enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities

Presented by the Honourable Myra Freeman, Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia
